End-of-year predictions carry the risk of being too cautious or too bold. Here is my honest assessment with uncertainty levels noted.
Agents become the primary deployment model (likely)
The shift from apps and flows toward agents is already underway. More solutions will be built as Copilot Studio agents with Power Automate backends rather than standalone canvas apps. Topic design, knowledge curation, and orchestration logic become the skills that matter most.
Governance for AI will become urgent (likely)
Most organisations with Copilot Studio deployments have not yet built formal AI governance frameworks. As deployments scale and agents are given more autonomy, the governance gap will become uncomfortable. 2027 will be the year organisations start building AI-specific governance frameworks.
Fabric becomes the default for new analytics (likely)
For organisations starting analytics projects in 2027, Fabric will be the default starting point. The question shifts from should we adopt Fabric to what is our Fabric migration path.
Power Platform skills shortage deepens (likely)
Demand continues to grow faster than supply β particularly at the senior end. Architects who understand governance, ALM, and enterprise integration are genuinely scarce. If you are building these skills now, that is a good investment.
Whatever 2027 brings, the fundamentals remain: governance, adoption, and quality determine whether Power Platform investments deliver real value.
I hold these predictions loosely. What matters most is building a practice that can adapt to change, not predicting exactly which direction change will come from.
